Congratulations for making it to the final month of 2020! To say this year has been challenging in some respect for each of us is an understatement. We have all experienced an emotionally, mentally and physically exhausting time, faced unprecedented events and lived through enormous discord. But as we reach the final month and look forward to a new year ahead, we can feel a sense of relief and a trust that what lies ahead will certainly be better than the last 11 months. And indeed, there is a new era unfolding!
We all know the saying ‘there’s no time like the present’ — but these days it feels like there’s no time BUT the present. What is immediate and ephemeral seems to dominate our lives, our health, our economy and our politics. But as we shift into the final month of this tumultuous year, there’s a feeling of hope for what the future can bring and the belief that there is a brighter time ahead for all of us.
2020 brought much change to our lives with the cycles of Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto. This last month of the year will be especially powerful and pivotal, signaling the threshold of a huge shift — ushered in by a major Jupiter/Saturn alignment in Aquarius — which is the start of a 200 year cycle of conjunctions in air signs. 2020 began with a joining of Saturn and Pluto in serious Capricorn — a harsh connection — and will end with a major alignment of Saturn and Jupiter in liberating Aquarius. Our future is now being shaped as we enter a major new cycle with Jupiter and Saturn uniting in an air sign — the first time in 26 years — indicating a new age of humanity coming together. This inspiring alignment, occurring at the time of the December Solstice and right after a Total Solar Eclipse, brings new fresh chapters of innovation, scientific and humanitarian advancement, inclusion, the releasing of oppressive systems and greater “we are one” feelings of connection!
While Saturn and Jupiter have been in the ‘testing’ sign of Capricorn we’ve witnessed challenges in government, world health issues, global economic and social inequalities, discord, disruptions and hardships — all the things represented by this pairing. * 16 December (15th in U.S.A): Venus moves into Sagittarius — Embrace, Enjoy, Encourage! As the Planet of Joy connects with effervescent Sagittarius, our energies turn expansive, with a greater ability to appreciate what we have, those in our lives and our dreams for the future! This is a time of new possibilities, broadening our horizons and sharing positive interactions with loved ones. We are inspired now to embrace our inspirational selves, enjoy life more fully and encourage a more blessed and beautiful time ahead! As Saturn moves from conservative Capricorn into liberal Aquarius, we’ll experience further concern for our society, each other and our life on this Earth. Greater humanitarian, socially empathetic and altruistic endeavours are forthcoming. This cycle will focus on gaining awareness of the importance of each individual, cultivating greater tolerance, broad-mindedness, liberalism and working toward a collective consciousness — shared beliefs and attributes that can unite us rather than divide us. A detachment from the old ways of doing things in favour of new innovation will also be seen. Additionally, new technological, medical and scientific advances will will mark this period along with new methods of working toward the betterment of society. * 20 December (19th in U.S.A): Jupiter moves into Aquarius — An Expansive Future! Jupiter, the benevolent planet representing expansion and the broadening of our horizons moves into the Air sign of Aquarius. Jupiter in Aquarius, which lasts for about a year, marks a period of more liberal philosophy blending with humanitarian efforts — a time given more to philanthropic outlooks and endeavors. This is a period emphasizing equality, the breaking down of barriers, a more ethical mindset, and finding unique ways of problem solving while championing the individual’s ideals and expression. In Aquarius, Jupiter brings an increased awareness of social justice, equal rights, as well as improvements in wide-reaching humanistic endeavors. It’s also be a time of more Universal or “New Age” spirituality, more involvement in worthwhile causes and feelings of being ‘all in this together’. New technology, scientific and medical advancements are featured now as we are united in our shared needs and problem solving goals. * 21 December (20th in U.S.A): Mercury moves into Capricorn — Set A Clear Course! As the planet of communication and movement moves from Sagittarius into Capricorn we have the opportunity to get clearer on what’s important in our lives and how to make more time for it! This is a great time for considering ways to improve and empower ourselves for future success. As we move into 2021 our views and vision become more goal oriented, with a get-real, get-going, get-it-done mindset! Our future dreams and goals are supported now with the energy of ambitious reflection, serious intention and conscious contemplation. We have more discipline, determination and mindful direction to set a course of action for greater future advancement. The ability to be more practical, pragmatic and perceptive in our plans helps us to make the changes we need to get ahead. We can focus now on making better use of those to-do lists, and be more practical in our thoughts and communications. * 21 December: Sun moves into Capricorn — Solstice Serenade! Solstice Seasonal Shimmer! What are the challenges and triumphs you faced this year? This new Solstice cycle encourages us to think about and prepare for our future with greater awareness of the responsibilities we need to own in order to bring our goals to light. On this magical Solstice, the longest day in the Southern hemisphere and the shortest in the Northern, we mark the turning of the light to help illuminate ways to be more accountable — to ourselves, one another and our future. This Sun/Capricorn cycle, extending into the new year, encourages us to consider what details and structures should be implemented now to advance our hopes and dreams and realize our future goals!
* 22 December (21th in U.S.A): The Great Jupiter and Saturn Conjunction — The New Awakening! As Saturn, the planet of restriction and Jupiter, ruling expansion, come together in the sign of “one-for-all” Aquarius, we enter a new phase of positive possibilities! Today a major connection of two Astrological giants at the first degree of Aquarius occurs — right at the time of the Solstice — symbolizing the ‘Turn of the Light’ and the promise of hope for a brighter tomorrow! The year began with a Saturn-Pluto conjunction in Capricorn on 10 January 2020 and now will end with Saturn-Jupiter conjunction in Aquarius — shifting our lives from a harsh, cold and heavy reality with Earthy Capricorn into a freedom-seeking, liberating and humanitarian Airy Aquarius. From now and well into 2021, we can feel greater enthusiasm, encouragement and evolvement as we leave the somber shadow of 2020 and enter a cycle of luminosity and freedom — letting go of the past and embrace greater joy and love! Saturn will be in Aquarius until 8 March 2023; Jupiter will be in Aquarius until 14 May 2021.
* 30 December (30th in U.S.A): Full Moon in Cancer — Encouraging Emotional Security! This large lunar energy in its ruling sign of Cancer helps us consider what we need for our emotional security in the year ahead. As the last Full Moon of the year, it also brings forth a greater sense of nurturing — for those we care about, ourselves and the world around us. Honouring the home, those we consider part of our tribe and those we feel connected to is the highlight of this time. This is a powerful and advantageous period to review the connections we have with others and how we can establish greater support, comfort, healing and security in our lives. The strong feelings we share and the thoughtful plans we put forth now can assist with domestic progress, family relations, feelings of comfort and intuitive understanding. * The Outer Planets stay in a sign for a longer period of time, so their effect on us is more gradual, but significant none the less. Here they are in their current positions:
* Mars is in Aries: The planet ruling energy, action and combativeness in its own sign of assertive Aires brings an extremely dynamic period with strong confrontational and combative emotions highlighted. This is a time when aggressive and assertive emotions are in the forefront so it is important to be cautious, to think before replying, not to take things too personally and watch overreacting to situations. We are able to experience greater drive, endurance and focus when it comes to our personal goals and passions. We can make inroads and advancements in many areas of our lives if we are careful and keep patient and work together in harmony. Mars will be in Aries until 7 January 2021.
* Jupiter in Capricorn/into Aquarius 19/20 December: With Jupiter in the final days of its transit through Capricorn, we can are focused on results, factual truths, the reality of situations and down-to-earth practicality. This is a cycle of responsibility, duty and improved morality — especially regarding those in power. As Jupiter moves into Aquarius, Capricorn is an Earth sign, we’ll be focusing on better ways to organize our lives while embracing greater security, stability and structure. We will now be concentrating on steady growth, working on long term goals and improving the rules we live by. Because we’ll be more hard working, dedicated and serious, we’ll have a better chance of success, progress and material well-being. This is also a great occasion for personal improvement and embarking on important and substantial new methods of individual growth, learning and development. Highlighted now are issues of efficiency, realism, creating and restoring order, rebuilding faulty structures and conserving our resources. Rewards come to those who put in the efforts that merit achievements — and to those who show thoughtful concern, patience and perseverance in their undertakings. Saturn is a teacher — helping us to grow through past mistakes, failures and hardships. By using the knowledge that we gain from these experiences, we can acquire greater wisdom, self awareness, patience and finally, advancement. Saturn in Capricorn focuses on righting the wrongs around us, ushering in a new era of ethical concerns and rewarding sincerity, integrity and authenticity. This can be the time when your hard work, efforts and dreams finally pay off! Saturn will be in Capricorn until 17 December, where it will advance into the humanitarian sign of Aquarius, remaining there until 7 March 2023.
* Uranus in Taurus is Retrograde: The planet signifying change, revolution and innovation is in the sign of Taurus which represents its opposite — stability, assurance and safeguarding! For the years ahead this Uranus/Taurus pairing will highlight liberation from the customary way of doing things in favor of new methods and inventive techniques. Also, as Taurus rules our personal values, creativity, material goods, finances, food and general enjoyment, we will see new innovations in these areas. Uranus will seek to shift the security-conscious/money-minded principles of the Bull by remodeling the way we handle our resources, material wealth and investment interests. We can expect a new wave of economic innovation helping us to focus on being more authentic and practical in our approach to things. We will also experience further shifting themes on how we view stability. More change will certainly be a feature in our future, so expect change, revolution, fluctuation and acts of defiance. * Neptune in Pisces: The planet ruling dreams and creativity continues its transit through its ruling sign of Pisces, encouraging us to honour more of our spiritual awareness, artistic inspiration and intuitive insight! Greater appreciation for the beauty around us as well as within us is also emphasized. We are urged to feel and express greater “we-are-all-one” compassion toward ourselves and others — along with further sympathetic understanding and involvement with humanitarian endeavours. Greater focus on our faith, spirituality and need for understanding of one another is highlighted! With Neptune in Pisces, we are helped to be more ‘in tune’ with our feelings, sensitivities and artistic side of our nature. We can also find further focus on our faith, future hopes, visions of a better tomorrow, spirituality and global understanding. Neptune will be in Pisces until 31 March 2025.
* Pluto is in Capricorn: As the planet of Transformation continues its travels through the sober sign of Capricorn, we reexamine serious issues and concerns regarding the positive changes we would like to make to ourselves and our world. The overall theme of this cycle is uncovering the misuse of power and authority to enable change for the better. It represents a major time of rediscovery, review and reconsideration that brings transformation to our society, government, world order and Mother Earth. It also pushes us to think about the changes we want to make to our belief structures and our power as individuals and as citizens of the world. Pluto will continue to be in Capricorn until 24 March 2023.
* Chiron is in Aries Retrograde: As the minor planet/comet Chiron, connected to the archetype of the “wounded healer” moves through the independent, assertive and aggressive fire sign of Aries, our identities are highlighted. During this time we’ll have greater opportunity to overcome personal obstacles, discover new strength, manifest healing and further self confidence. Chiron is said to act as a link between the conscious and unconscious and as such, can represent transformation in body, mind and soul. As we surmount challenges, we find greater empowerment, advancing our unique spirits while manifesting more of our dreams. Chiron will be in Aries until 2027.
