Challenges are a way of life. They’re an important and necessary part of our growth and our learning curve. Most people shy away from difficulties or get upset when dilemmas emerge in their lives — but they are inevitable. How we view our problems is what makes the difference in how they affect us. Rather than see obstacles as nasty disruptions — we can look at them as opportunities — to understand, improve and empower ourselves. Every bump in the road on our journey though life can actually be a gift in disguise if dealt with in the right way. By looking for the messages, meanings and positives when undergoing life’s complications we have the ability to emerge stronger, more self aware and wiser.
When feeling bombarded by complications or overcome by adversity it’s easy to feel frustrated, trapped, depressed. We’ve all been there. But by gently shifting our perspective and asking “What am I being taught by this predicament?”, we can decipher the constructive lessons that inherently lie in a troubling situation. As soon as we source the meaning within any challenge, the resistance we have regarding it dissipates. Sometimes being aware of the lessons in any circumstance brings us courage to work through it and to surmount the obstacles.
This Solstice month is the time to help yourself view problems as opportunities — finding the “gifts” or lessons that each experience (good or bad) can teach us. By utilizing this mindful approach in dealing with difficulties we become more adept at handling them with less stress and more enlightenment. With the Matariki New Moon in Gemini, Mars moving into Leo, Mercury going Retrograde and an infusion of Gemini, Cancer and Leo energy, we’re able to embrace any challenge as an exercise for overcoming personal hardships! In the weeks ahead we can experience positivity by feeling more in control of our lives, our actions and our attitudes!

* 3 June 2021 (2nd in U.S.A): Venus goes into Cancer — Sooth Your Spirit! This new Lunar light signifies beginnings — and in the sign ruling thoughts, ideas and conversation (Gemini), we begin an inspirational period of greater connection and understanding with those in our lives. This is also the time to celebrate the magic of Matariki, the Maori New Year! Matariki is the Maori name for the cluster of stars also known as the Pleiades, which rise in the heavens at this time, heralding the start of a new year! Traditionally Matariki was used to determine the coming season’s crops. A warmer season and a more productive crop yield was indicated by how bright the stars were! Additionally, an Annular Solar Eclipse — where the Moon obscures all but an outer ring of the Sun — will be occurring at this time, super charging the New Moon energy! It is also a time of ‘revealing’ — where issues can be brought to light and new insights or information can be made known. Jupiter, the benevolent planet representing expansion and opportunity, moving through the compassionate sign of Pisces, will start a 4 month Retrograde cycle this June. This can actually be a profound time of inner growth, promoting the broadening of our soul and spirit. This Retrograde period encourages us to work on restoring or reviving any project or relationship that needs healing. We can now better face our fears, knowing that we can overcome them and emerge stronger and happier. It’s a good time for re-connection — with yourself, with those you can about and with Universal sensitivity. This period can be utilized for going inward and examining one’s self from an introspective, metaphysical or spiritual perspective. Despite it’s ‘backward’ motion, Jupiter urges us to grow our intuitive natures and embark on holistic endeavours. As we celebrate the Solstice in the nurturing sign of Cancer, be mindful of how you can cultivate greater feelings of support, kindness and love for those in your life — as well as for yourself! * 23 June 2021 (22nd in U.S.A.): Mercury in Gemini goes Direct! — Forge Ahead Now! As the Communication planet finally moves forward after its backward stint, so can our actions, plans, projects and ventures! Use this cycle for sorting your stuff, getting back on track with budgets, empowering yourself with greater organization and taking charge of your goals. This is a great time to map out strategies for greater financial security and get things sorted when it comes to your work and ambitions. * 26 June 2021 (25th in U.S.A.): Neptune in Pisces Goes Retrograde — Intuitive Reflection! As the planet ruling our intuition, dreams and creativity starts its Retrograde motion, we are urged to look inward, find more compassion, sympathetic understanding and healing. In its ruling sign of Pisces, this Neptune “backwards” motion encourages us to honour more of our spiritual awareness, artistic expression and sensitive emotions. Greater appreciation for the beauty around us as well as within us is highlighted. We-are-all-one feelings are emphasized along with further need for humanitarian expression. Readdressing ways to embrace further world awareness, universal connection and the breaking down of barriers is emphasized and encouraged. Neptune will be Retrograde until 2 December 2021 and will continue its journey through Pisces until 31 March 2025.
* 27 June 2021 (26th in U.S.A.): Venus into Leo– Grow Your Glory! Positivity starts with you — your thoughts about yourself, your perceptions of who you are and the belief in your potential! With Venus, the Goddess of Love planet, shining brightly in the effervescent sign of Leo, it’s time to honour your individual beauty, creativity and self expression! Appreciating your personal talents, in all their forms, helps you to be more aware of them and what you can share. Don’t look to others to establish who you are, what you should think or how you are valued! Remind yourself of all you’ve lived through, learned, and accomplished and the things that make you truly magical! * The Outer Planets stay in a sign for a longer period of time, so their effect on us is more gradual, but significant none the less. Here they are in their current positions:
* Jupiter in Pisces will be going Retrograde : Jupiter, the benevolent planet representing expansion, moving through the compassionate sign of Pisces, brings a new cycle of advancement as it turns Retrograde this June. Jupiter in Pisces, which lasts for about a year, marks a period of greater feeling, sensitivity and creative/mystical inspiration! It is also a time of further philanthropic outlooks, humanitarian efforts and feelings of ‘Oneness’ with the Universe! This is a period emphasizing our care of one another, greater equality, the breaking down of barriers and the growth of our spiritual awareness. We are encouraged to grow our intuitive natures and embark on holistic endeavours and look to greater healing — of ourselves and others. This compatible Jupiter/Pisces pairing increases our creative awareness, philosophical expressions and the need to serve the world by sharing our feelings of love and care with one another. There will be an increased awareness of social justice, equal rights and improvements in wide ranging humanistic projects. As Jupiter moves through ethereal Pisces we may experience a “New Age” feeling of spiritual growth and the chance to make positive changes in how we view ourselves, each other and our world. We now have the opportunity to be more aware of the positive effect that we can manifest in our own lives while also being cognizant of the suffering of others and what we can do to liberate the oppressed. Jupiter will be in Pisces until 29 July 2021 (when it Retrogrades back into Aquarius) and then again from 30 December 2021 to 11 May 2022.
* Saturn is in Aquarius (going Retrograde): As Saturn, the planet representing responsibility, maturity and structure travels backwards through the liberating sign of Aquarius, we’ll experience a reviewing process of the major concerns for our society, each other and our life on Earth. Greater humanitarian, socially empathetic and altruistic endeavours will be all in line for revision. This reworking cycle will focus on gaining awareness of the importance of each individual, cultivating greater tolerance, broad-mindedness, liberalism and working toward a collective consciousness — shared beliefs and attributes that can unite us rather than divide us. A detachment from the old ways of doing things in favour of new innovation will also be readdressed. Additionally, new technological, medical and scientific advances will will mark this period along with new methods of working toward the betterment of society. This Saturn Retrograde cycle helps us to rework our guidelines and leadership direction now for a more positive and prosperous time ahead. We’ll be urged now to reconsider what’s no longer working in our lives and what we can do to improve ourselves and our course of action for a better future tomorrow. Saturn will be going Retrograde from 23 May 2021 until 11 October 2021. Saturn will remain in Aquarius until 7 March 2023.
* Uranus in Taurus: The planet signifying change, revolution and innovation is in the sign of Taurus which represents its opposite — stability, assurance and safeguarding! For the years ahead this Uranus/Taurus pairing will highlight liberation from the customary way of doing things in favor of new methods and inventive techniques. Also, as Taurus rules our personal values, creativity, material goods, finances, food and general enjoyment, we will see new innovations in these areas. Uranus will seek to shift the security-conscious/money-minded principles of the Bull by remodeling the way we handle our resources, material wealth and investment interests. We425–629–7346 can expect a new wave of economic innovation helping us to focus on being more authentic and practical in our approach to things. We will also experience further shifting themes on how we view stability. More change will certainly be a feature in our future, so expect change, revolution, fluctuation and acts of defiance. * Neptune in Pisces (Going Retrograde): The planet ruling dreams and creativity continues its transit through its ruling sign of Pisces, encouraging us to honour more of our spiritual awareness, artistic inspiration and intuitive insight! Greater appreciation for the beauty around us as well as within us is also emphasized. We are urged to feel and express greater “we-are-all-one” compassion toward ourselves and others — along with further sympathetic understanding and involvement with humanitarian endeavours. Greater focus on our faith, spirituality and need for understanding of one another is highlighted! With Neptune in Pisces, we are helped to be more ‘in tune’ with our feelings, sensitivities and artistic side of our nature. We can also find further focus on our faith, future hopes, visions of a better tomorrow, spirituality and global understanding. Neptune will be in Pisces until 31 March 2025.
* Pluto is Retrograde in Capricorn: As the planet of Transformation continues its ‘backward’ travels through the sober sign of Capricorn, we reexamine serious issues and concerns regarding the positive changes we would like to make to ourselves and our world. The overall theme of this cycle is uncovering the misuse of power and authority to enable change for the better. It represents a major time of rediscovery, review and reconsideration that brings transformation to our society, government, world order and Mother Earth. It also pushes us to think about the changes we want to make to our belief structures and our power as individuals and as citizens of the world. Pluto will continue to be going back and forth in Capricorn until 20 November 2024.
* Chiron is in Aries: As the minor planet/comet Chiron, connected to the archetype of the “wounded healer” moves through the independent, assertive and aggressive fire sign of Aries, our identities are highlighted. During this time we’ll have greater opportunity to overcome personal obstacles, discover new strength, manifest healing and further self confidence. Chiron is said to act as a link between the conscious and unconscious and as such, can represent transformation in body, mind and soul. As we surmount challenges, we find greater empowerment, advancing our unique spirits while manifesting more of our dreams. Chiron will be in Aries until 2027.
